Bandung, 7 August 2025 – The 2025 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) is a forum for the government, researchers, academics, and industry in science and technology collaboration to realize equality and economic growth for the nation.
This convention was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), which took place at the Sasana Budaya Ganesha Building (Sabuga), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Bandung, Thursday (7/8/2025).
The 2025 KSTI will produce a research and innovation roadmap to support eight strategic sectors: energy, defense, digitalization, downstream and industrialization, healthcare, food, maritime affairs, materials, and advanced manufacturing. The eight industries were selected based on the nation’s strategic needs to accelerate the transformation of a high-quality and highly competitive knowledge economy.
President Prabowo Subianto also attended the Convention and delivered a speech in front of thousands of researchers from all over Indonesia with an H-Index of at least 15.
In his speech, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, researchers, academics, and industry in realizing the nation’s technological independence and innovation.
“Mastery of science and technological development must be the backbone of national economic growth and equality. Collaboration is essential,” President Prabowo emphasized in his speech on Thursday (7/8/2025).
President Prabowo also targets 8% economic growth over the next five years, through national industrialization based on downstream technology and technological strengthening. This aligns with President Prabowo’s 4th and 5th Asta Cita visions.
This forum began with a discussion moderated by the Director General of Research and Development (Dirjen Risbang) of Technology at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Fauzan Adziman, who also presented BUMN leaders by raising various national strategic issues such as the digital sector, defense, food, and energy.
“Collaboration between researchers and industry is not an option, but a necessity if Indonesia wants to achieve technological sovereignty and global competitiveness,” said Director General Fauzan Adziman in the opening session.
Prof. Eko Priyo Purnomo, who attended the forum, also highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing economic growth and strengthening the nation’s technological innovation. Collaboration between sectors, such as researchers and industry, is one step that can be taken to realize the President’s Asta Cita. This emphasized the need for researchers to provide deeper insights into their research, using the roadmap and innovations established by the government, so that Indonesia’s dream of accelerating the transformation of a high-quality and highly competitive knowledge economy can soon be achieved.
“As researchers, we must support the government’s program to accelerate the transformation of a high-quality and competitive knowledge economy. Collaboration with various sectors can be implemented to accelerate this program. We, as researchers, must immediately focus our research innovation on the eight roadmaps and existing innovations so that the hope of realizing the President’s Asta Cita (Plan of the Presidential Decree) can be achieved soon,” said Prof. Eko Priyo Purnomo, when met on Friday (8/8/2025).
